Dreamweaver is Unsurpassed.

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

About Dreamweaver: Created originally by Macromedia and presently by Adobe Systems, Dreamweaver is an application of web development. Various aspects of web development like page creation, web server tools and site management is integrated by Dreamweaver, with the help of which users are able to get a good perspective of the full website. The application’s recent versions have also given support for a number of web technologies like JavaScript, CSS and several frameworks and serverside scripting languages like ColdFusion, PHP and ASP. Dreamweavers come for both Windows Operating Systems and Mac.

Features of Dreamweaver: Even though Dreamweaver is an application of web development and design which is code based and is a WYSIWYG hybrid, the WYSIWYG mode can hide the pages′ HTML codes from the users which help even the non coders to create sites and web pages. With the Dreamweaver application, it is quite easy to create table based layouts. The latest versions of the application have a focus on supporting the standard based layout, which can convert tables to layers.

Dreamweaver helps users in previewing websites in the web browsers that were locally installed. It has tools of site management like WebDAV, FTP/SFTP synchronization features and file transfer, templating features allowing the shared code’s source update and layout of the entire sites without scripting or server side includes, and the ability of finding and replacing code or text lines by regular expressions and search terms across the whole site.

The third party ‘extensions′ can be used by Dreamweaver for enabling and extending the application’s main functionality. Many extension developers, who make available the free and commercial extensions, support Dreamweaver for many web development tasks ranging from fully featured shopping carts to simple effects of rollover. Also the files can be edited locally by Dreamweaver, and using WebDAV, SFTP and FTP, upload them into the remote web server similar to the other HTML editions.

Drawbacks: A drawback of Dreamweaver is its having the potential of producing HTML pages whose HTML code amount and file size are larger than what would be a page that is optimally hand coded, causing the poor performance of web browsers. Dreamweaver has also been criticized in the past by some website developers for producing code which many times do not comply with the standards of ͩC. The Dreamweaver 8.0 has had a poor performance on the Acid 2 Test which was developed by Web Standards Project.

Syntax Highlighting: Syntax Highlighting is supported by the latest versions of Dreamweaver for the languages like ActionScript, ASP.Net, Active Server Pages, C#, ColdFusion, Cascading Style Sheets, EDML, Extensible Markup Language, HyperText Markup Language, Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations, Java, JavaServer Pages, JavaScript, PHP, Visual Basic, VB Script and Wireless Markup Language. For many of the above mentioned languages, code completion is available and you can also add to its repertoire, your own language syntax highlighting.

Language Availability: The Adobe Dreamweaver comes in several languages like English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Russian, Swedish, Korean, Turkish, Polish, Japanese, Portuguese, Brazilian, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional.

PHP, The New Standard In Web Development

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

For people that are looking to build a dynamically generated web page, one of the tools that are available is called PHP Web Development. It stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP is actually an HTML embedded scripting language that is compatible with many different types of data bases.

Ever since its official launch in’98 after being re-developed and tweaked for a number of years, it has undergone many different changes. PHP is a scripting language that uses embedded HTML. One of the reasons that it is so widely used could be due to the fact that is very compatible with a number of servers, unlike other computer programming languages.

When Rasmus Lerdorf created the PHP in the′90′s, it was not as good as it is today. PHP has had many improvements and is now one of the top used applications for its purpose.

Its crude beginnings opened the door to an advanced program that can do multiple tasks. Since its creation, it has undergone many graphics and commands improvements and currently has five versions. Type of application used for web development can be used in almost all operating systems, and can be used on most servers. This software is usually free and can be found on the internet.

The latest version has been engineered to decrease security issues and other problems that were associated with earlier PHP models. When version 6. 0 is available it will have the added bonus of being able to support Unicode, which the current version can not do at this time.

Although the current version can’t support Unicode, the forthcoming version 6. 0 will be able to. PHP web development is one of thousands of languages used by programmers and developers. The many improvements that the PHP web development software has made it increasing popular by those who create web pages.
